Grey Hand Painted Kitchen, nr. Doncaster
For this hand painted kitchen I travelled to Snaith near Doncaster.
The clients had recently moved into a new home and really wanted to update the look of their ‘new’ kitchen without going to the large expense of replacing it. The layout suited them really well and the units were well made so rather than spending many thousands to replace what they had for the same quality, the natural choice was to hand paint the exisitng units and update and change them that way.
The clients went back and forth on which colour they fancied, originally starting with a sage green then moving onto white and finally this lovely grey. Greys became very popular in interior design throughout 2015 and prompted some of the better known paint manufacturers to bring out new colour cards that were ‘exclusively grey’. Some people associate grey as a cool and utilitarian colour, and though that can be true there are also a myriad of subtle grey shades that are entirely warm and sumptuous. In my opinion ‘The Little Greene Company’ has one of the best grey colour cards on the market as it easily shows the wide range of the tones available. For this particular kitchen the colour used was Little Greenes ‘Lead‘, which I had accurately tinted to the equivalent colour in my specialist kitchen paint.
The clients were simply thrilled with the transformation, the quality of the finish and the colour they had decided on. Going from orangy oak to something so clean and fresh really changed the feel of the room and even seemed to update the look of the dining room and snug which the kitchen adjoined and opened onto.
