I undertook this kitchen cabinet painting project in Bramhope Leeds. The clients had recently moved into the house and had inherited this lovely, albeit dark handmade kitchen. Though beautifully made, they felt it looked dated and needed modernising. They had found me on the web and were interested in finding out more about my hand painted kitchen service. 

They contacted me by phone and asked a few poignant questions about my process and the durability of the paint I use. I explained about the meticulous preparation I undertake, how I would fill all the ‘pips’, and that the advanced paint system I use is specially designed for painting kitchens. During my visit we discussed the process and logistics in more detail and looked at potential colours. The client was very keen for the walls to be green, so for the units themselves we looked at warm ‘off whites’ to compliment the slight pinkiness in the tiles. In the end we chose the Little Greene colour ‘Clay Mid’, which I had accurately tinted in my specialist kitchen paint. 

Alongside the painting, there were to be other changes too, the large double unit on the right was removed and the wall knocked down opening up the next door snug. I thought the way the clients knocked out this section was inspired, electing not to take the whole wall out but a section, leaving a very modern and funky shape as the gap. The project was incredibly satisfying to do, with the kitchen being almost unrecognisable. It still had the same expensive and beautifully hand-crafted units, but now they were transformed with a show room quality hand painted finish.
