For this kitchen repainting project I was commissioned by a lovely couple in the picturesque village of Whixley near York. They had done their research and were looking for a specialist to repaint their existing hand painted kitchen.

The kitchen itself was hand made, bespoke, and built to a very high quality by a local kitchen company. The final stage, the painting, had however been subcontracted and not done well. After a relatively short time it was looking very tired and was chipping off in places. There were also bits and blobs in the paint and runs all over the place, a real shame considering the quality of the original cabinetry.

The couple had found my website and got in touch to see if their beautiful kitchen could be repainted and saved. They sent me though some pictures and after sending them an initial guesstimate they were keen to meet up to discuss things further.

During the consultation I explained the process and materials I would use and what type of finish and durability I could achieve. They seemed very happy with everything I proposed and after getting a couple of other quotes (all of which were lower) they decided they wanted to entrust their new look kitchen to me.

To give this kitchen the paint finish it deserved involved a lot of prep as I had to essentially undo nearly everything the previous ‘kitchen painter’ had done (please see the before and after pics above). Not all kitchen painters are the same and this kitchen really showed that. With patience, attention to detail, meticulous prep and quality materials I was able to transform the original finish and create a highly durable, silky smooth finish that will last for many many moons to come.
