Project details - Repainted ‘Smallbone’ Kitchen

Repainted ‘Smallbone’ Kitchen –

For the repainting of the Smallbone kitchen I worked in a beautifully renovated home with spectacular views near Wakefield.

The clients had bought the kitchen a number of years ago and had never really been happy with the paint finish. They had been looking for the right person to entrust the repaint too and having researched me online, contacted me to see if I would be interested in the project. Naturally I was – giving a lovely handmade kitchen the finish it deserves is a very satisfying thing to do 🙂

The current finish (seen in a couple of the images above) had so many a lump, bump, brush mark and drip that it needed a lot of work to put it right. Every inch was carefully and thoroughly sanded so that all the bits as well as the original dragged paint effect was sanded perfectly smooth ready for the new more contemporary single colour finish the clients now wanted.

During the consultation we discussed the processess and materials I would use and also looked at various colour options. After supplying a few samples the chosen colour was ‘Farrow & Ball’s ‘Stony Ground’, which I had accurately tinted in the specialist paint I use from Finland.

After many days of thorough preparation, priming and top coating the end result was a meticulously hand painted silky smooth, brush mark free finish that brought this kitchen back to life.

The clients were over the moon with the results and later booked me in to paint their bedroom furniture, happy days!
