Client Testimonial –

Thanks for our Kitchen transformation – it is superb! Your meticulous attention to detail is great. Our end-to-end experience was ‘mess-free’ and this really helped us to continue with our busy family lifestyle whilst you were rejuvenating our Kitchen. Thanks again – We love it!’ Mrs F, Halifax

This particular kitchen cabinet painting project was in Halifax and was all about creating a new look kitchen by hand painting the original beech cabinets. The kitchen itself had been installed when the development was built, and since that time tastes have changed. The clients felt they now wanted a more up to date look for their kitchen as the original cabinets made the room feel dark and dominated the space rather than complimenting it.

The kitchen cabinets were well made and the layout perfect for their needs, so rather than going down the much more costly route of replacement, they looked for a ‘specialist kitchen cabinet painter in Yorkshire’ and found my website.

The clients contacted me by phone and after sending me some photos I sent back my detailed estimate by return. They were keen to book me in and paid a 20% deposit to ensure their slot – all this before we had met or had the consultation. This is actually becoming more frequent, such is the power of ‘Traditional Painter’ and my reputation as a top quality kitchen painter – it’s really lovely that people trust you and your work in this way 🙂

During the consultation itself I explained the tried and tested processes I employ in more detail and introduced them to the specialist paints I use. I also suggested adding a second colour to some areas which would not only add to the aesthetics but also give it a truely bespoke look. The central wine racks and the area above the sink were all painted in a mid charcoal colour (see images below). As the project developed and I began painting I felt that it would be good to add some line detailing on the drawers to further add to the overall balance of the scheme.

In order to minimise any disruption for the clients I only spent 5 days on site and then continued to prepare and paint the drawer fronts and units in my workshop, returning to re-hang them a week and a half later. As with all the kitchens I paint, preparation and attention to detail are the key.

There’s a lot that goes into specialist kitchen painting if your creating a smooth and durable show room quality finihs. To many, hand painting seems to be synonymous with brush marks and this really doesn’t need to be the case. With the right products, the right skills, attention to detail and patience, a hand painted finish can be smooth, without a brush mark or bobble in sight. If you would like to see more extensive info on the processess and products I use there are many more of my project pages and articles to explore 🙂

It also has the advantage over most spraying as it  hugs the contours of the doors rather than smoothing them out and offers a finish that doesn’t look plastic or synthetic.

The pictures below show the sections that were painted in a different colour, a deep charcoal that complimented the main colour and added that certain je ne sais quoi 🙂

All in all the  transformation was pretty dramatic. The room felt instantly lighter and the exact same units looked completely modern and stylish. The clients were over the moon with the results and were kind enough give me this testimonial –
