Kitchen Repaint

Project details - Kitchen Repaint

Kitchen Repaint, Whixley, nr. York

For this kitchen repaint project I was commissioned by a lovely couple in the picturesque village of Whixley, near York. They had done their research and were looking for a specialist to repaint their existing hand painted kitchen.

The kitchen itself was hand made, bespoke, and built to a very high quality by a local kitchen company. It was however now looking very tired and was actually chipping off in places as the original paint finish had not done well. There were bits and blobs in the paint and runs all over the place, a real shame considering the quality of the original cabinetry.

The couple had seen my profile on Traditional Painter and, having liked what they’d seen, got in touch and asked if I would give them a price for re-painting their kitchen. They sent me though some pictures and after sending them an initial guesstimate by return they were keen to meet up to discuss things further.

During the consultation I explained the process and materials I would use and what type of finish and durabilty I could achieve. They seemed very happy with everything I proposed and after getting a couple of other quotes (all of which were lower) they decided they wanted to entrust their new look kitchen to me.

To give this kitchen the paint finish it deserved involved a lot of prep as I had to essentially undo nearly everything the previous ‘kitchen painter’ had done (please see the before and after pics above). Not all kitchen painters are the same and this kitchen really showed that. With patience, attention to detail, meticulous prep and quality materials I was able to transform the original finish and create a highly durable, silky smooth finish that will last for many many moons to come.
