I had a 29 year old solid wood kitchen, I liked the layout and didn't really want to change it for an inferior new one. My apartment had previously been a rental property before I purchased it and was looking thoroughly unloved, particularly the kitchen.

I looked at several options for painting the kitchen as fitting a new one just wasn’t in my budget and I actually liked the style of the doors.

A friend recommended Lee and after nosing around her kitchen I didn’t have any hesitations contacting him. Lee is a true craftsman with meticulous preparation and attention to detail. My painted kitchen is immaculate, I cannot see a single brushstroke, the finish is just beautiful. I took Lee’s steer away from a darker colour and was really pleased I did. His judgment comes from not only from his practical, on the job knowledge, but also from having an eye for colour as a creative painter and artist.

We thought long and hard before deciding to have our bespoke oak kitchen hand painted. We knew that the kitchen needed a refresh, but we were concerned the quality of the kitchen units may be spoilt with any substandard paint work. The challenge was to find somebody with the necessary skills to do the kitchen justice. Well we certainly found that person in Lee Simone. Lee is not only an obvious talent at his craft but also a very well organised individual. The timescale allowed for completion of our kitchen was absolutely spot on. Lee requires a blank canvas to carry out his work so be prepared to clear the kitchen and post “out of bounds” signs for family and pets and stock up on microwave meals for the duration. However, trust us the end result is well worth any short-term inconvenience. Lee’s trick is his attention to detail, his preparation work is immense which is critical before applying any first coat of paint.

During the consultation stage Lee was very influential in advising on colour schemes, and once we had selected the colours for our kitchen, he was able to find a suitable paint that gave an exact match to our requirements.

As an indication to his talent and professionalism Lee is in very high demand and as such customers should be prepared to wait for his services, but we would suggest that the wait is well worth while. When we bought our house 6 years ago the kitchen was key to our decision to buy. The design, layout and worktops were everything we wanted. However, over the years we noticed the colour of the cupboards were getting darker and eventually the kitchen looked like it belonged to a family of heavy smokers ( which we are not.) After an initial consultation we discovered the kitchen had been subject to a previous repaint and the paint used was not suitable hence the discolouration. “When we retired we decided to update the house and as we couldn’t face ripping out the old (20+ Years) kitchen units and replacing them with plastic lookalike ones we thought about having them painted!

They were light oak but still made the north facing kitchen feel dark, so a nice coat of paint was the answer!
