Hand Painted Oak Kitchen Boroughbridge
For this hand painted oak kitchen transformation I travelled to Boroughbridge. The clients had always wanted a hand painted kitchen and having done their research, seen my website and read my Blogs, they contacted me to discuss their project further.
The kitchen had been installed quite a few years ago but was good quality with a style and layout that worked well. The only real problem was the colour of the wood and how dated it now looked. Anyone can ‘paint’ a kitchen, but doing it very well is a different matter entirely. A kitchen can be ruined if the wrong process, materials and practices are used, but as a specialist kitchen painter it’s my job to know what works, how to do things properly and how to achieve the best and most durable of finishes. Just because it’s hand painted doesn’t mean it has to have brush marks, a lovely smooth finish can be achieved, but the finish is only ever as good as the preparation that proceeds it. If a jobs worth doing…
During the consultation we discussed the process and having explained how I go about things they were very keen to book me in, even though at the time I had around a 7 month league time. In terms of colour this was one of the easiest and quickest colour consultations I’ve ever had, with The Little Greene Company’s ’50’s Magnolia’ being the instant and obvious winner. I got it accurately tinted in my specialist kitchen and furniture paint by Holmans Paints in Swindon, and although ’50’s Magnolia’ isn’t the most inspirational of names, it really is a lovely colour and worked perfectly.
After dreaming of having a hand painted kitchen for so long, the clients were absolutely delighted with the end results and kindly wrote this lovely testimonial for me.

‘We found Lee when we searched the net for someone who could hand paint a solid oak kitchen. He came to have a look and give us a quote. He discussed our needs and offered us great advice. We booked him and paid the deposit before we got the quote, which we found to be very reasonable when it arrived. He has a long waiting list but he his definitely worth the wait. He was punctual, polite and the cleanest workman we’ve ever had in our house. We now have a beautifully hand painted kitchen that has transformed the look and feel of the house. What craftsmanship, we have tried but have been unable to find a brush stroke on the units – we really couldn’t recommend Lee highly enough. What a lovely man.’ Mrs B, Kirby Hill, Boroughbridge
