Kitchen Painting Ilkley
For this kitchen painting project I had the pleasure of working in Ilkley. The house I worked in was set high above the town and offered beautiful views of fields and the moor beyond. The kitchen was a lovely large space and the clients wanted to brighten up the room and make it feel more contemporary. The kitchen cabinets themselves were real wood and good quality, a great starting point for hand painting a kitchen.
Colours – during video calls and then a final home consultation, we looked at various colour options and after samples had been done and the colours lived with for a few weeks, the final colour choices were the equivalent to Little Greene’s ‘Rubine Ashes’ for the cabinet doors, Farrow & Ball’s ‘Dove Tale’ for island and ‘Wevet’ for the walls.
Choosing the right colour for your kitchen is really important and I am happy to help if you need some guidance. Painting up some samples, taping them to the doors and seeing them in different lights and at different times of the day, is something I always recommend, and can give you a little taster of the transformation to come.
Process – as with all my kitchen painting projects, I began by taking off the doors and draw fronts and then preparing and painting them in my workshop. This allows disruption to be kept to a minimum and due to my modular racking system, allows the doors and drawers top harden whilst I paint the shell. On-site, I masked off all the key areas, including the floor and worktops and then repeated the same process I had undertaken on the doors, namely, a good clean and degrease, thorough sanding to create a key and then the careful application of 2 coats of high adhesion primer and then two specialist topcoats. The clients were extremely happy with their kitchen transformation and were kind enough to write this Google Review for me;
‘Throughout the whole of the contract, we were impressed with the professional way in which you assisted Jane with the choice of colours and shades, your strict adherence to Covid guidelines, your prompt arrival with advance notice when leaving home and with the fact that you left our premises in an immaculate state after each visit. The quality of your workmanship was outstanding, and I can confirm that I have no hesitation in recommending Imaginative Interiors to any potential clients. I am also happy for you to both publish this recommendation on social media and to post photographs on your website. We look forward to enjoying our “reimagined” kitchen for many years to come. With very best wishes, John and Jane.’
