Kitchen Repainting
Alongside hand painting wooden and laminate kitchens, I also offer a kitchen repainting service throughout most of Yorkshire. For this particular kitchen repainting project, I traveled to beautiful house near Hull. The scale of this project was pretty large, not only due to the size of the kitchen and all the lovely detailing, but also due to the vast amounts of preparation that was required.
My clients had inherited the kitchen when they bought the house a number of years ago and unfortunately had inherited its paint finish too. It was actually the worst finish I have ever seen on a kitchen. It looked like two or three decorators had attempted the painting, but not being specialists, had used inferior paint and poor quality materials. To create a showroom quality finish on a kitchen like this takes time, experience, top notch painting skills and a lot of patience.
I have included a couple of ‘before pics’ above, which show that not only were the wrong products used (it was coming off all over the place) but there was not a single square inch that didn’t have a brush mark, hair, bobble or bit in it. Not even the original primer had been sanded back. All in all it took me 2 solid weeks of sanding and filling just to get the original finish smooth and ready for priming.
The main colour chosen was Farrow & Ball’s ‘New White‘, whilst the alcoves, the island and the mantel were F&B’s ‘Mizzle‘. Each of these colours was accurately tinted in my specialist paint to the equivalent shade by Holmans Specialist Paints.
The project took many weeks to complete, because of all the preparation, and wasn’t cheap, but the clients were thrilled with the way I had approached the work and the results I managed to achieve. They were kind enough to send me this lovely testimonial –
‘Just a short note to thank you again for the brilliant job you have made of our kitchen. You have totally transformed it into one that now looks new and bespoke. Your advise on the colour change was invaluable and we are so pleased we chose the Mizzle accents. Although you had a long commute every day, you came in and worked tirelessly and professionally to produce an extremely high quality job. Thank you again for being such a perfectionist and giving us an outstanding kitchen.’ Gill & Ron Dickinson
